Focus on Phase Three
Today City Council is reviewing the potential Connecting Avenue C: Walking and Cycling Improvement Project that is purposing a functional design for a cycling corridor along Avenue C (Spadina Crescent to 45th Street). The project objective is to develop a design that encourages walking and cycling consistent with the City’s Active Transportation Plan.
The Chamber supports the development of cycling and walking corridors and the creation of an active transportation network in Saskatoon. Encouraging alternative and sustainable modes of transportation fosters a healthier and more environmentally sustainable community.
While we support the advancement of cycling infrastructure and active transportation networks, it is crucial to recognize the potential impact on our local businesses. We believe that we must work to strike a balance between these initiatives and the well-being of our local economy. As we look at this plan, we have encourage City Council to take a close look at Phase 3 to ensure that the interests of the surrounding businesses are safeguarded. Our recommendations for implementation are geared towards achieving this delicate balance.
