The Saskatoon Chamber released the Q4 edition of its Saskatoon Chamber Business Snapshot today, providing a quarterly, data-driven view of local business conditions. New insights from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Data Lab show Canada’s economy remains fragile, with elevated uncertainty weighing on business expectations across the country.
This latest snapshot highlights key local trends in business expectations, obstacles, and overall sentiment:
Business Expectation
That national picture is reflected locally. In Q4, the Business expectation index is 94, in line with the national average and below the neutral threshold of 100, signaling continued caution among local employers as they look ahead to 2026.

Top Obstacles for Business
Consistent with national findings, Saskatoon businesses continue to identify cost pressures as their most significant challenge in the near term. Workforce constraints also remain a key local issue, reinforcing concerns about capacity and competitiveness.

Business Sentiment
Despite ongoing headwinds, sentiment in Saskatoon shows signs of resilience. Eighty-two per cent of businesses report feeling optimistic about the year ahead, while only 12 per cent expect conditions to deteriorate, suggesting confidence has stabilized even as uncertainty persists.
