This week, the Canadian Chamber network was represented on the ground in Washington, D.C., during the U.S. presidential inauguration, ensuring that Canadian interests were front and center. With proposed tariffs on the table, the Canadian Chamber delivered a strong message to key U.S. decision-makers that such measures harm—not help—our economies.

Business confidence in Saskatoon remains high according to the 2024 Saskatoon Business Barometer, the Saskatoon Chamber’s annual survey of business professionals and owners as they head into a new year. Nearly 80% of respondents feel optimistic about Saskatoon’s economy heading into 2025 with enough economic opportunities for their businesses to succeed.

We’ve heard from many businesses in Saskatoon about the confusion surrounding the GST Holiday, and there is considerable confusion about whether applying the GST exemption is mandatory. The policy was introduced with limited clarity, leaving many businesses uncertain about their obligations.

Last week, the Government of Saskatchewan introduced a series of amendments to the Act that business owners and leaders should know about. Some of these are “housekeeping” changes to clarify aspects of the legislation.
