Creation of a National Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation Policy Resolution Submitted to the Canadian Chamber
The Saskatoon Chamber has proposed a policy resolution that recommends that the federal government create a National Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation not dissimilar to the new Saskatchewan based SIIFC program.
Access to capital has been identified by many Indigenous businesses as a barrier to invest in major projects. By developing a National Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation the Government of Canada can create positive outcomes for both Indigenous peoples in Canada and natural resource development, value added agriculture and green energy sectors. Loan guarantees could also assist in succession planning of well established businesses opening up a path to ownership for Indigenous communities and individuals.
The Canadian Chamber will be reviewing all the submitted resolutions throughout the summer with the final opportunity for our Chamber to present at the AGM in October.
