Today, Saskatoon City Council meets to discuss the city’s property tax ratio—a key policy that impacts both businesses and residents.
We were pleased to see the motion coming out of this month’s Finance Committee meeting, which recommends that Administration engage with stakeholders to establish clear guidelines and goals for Saskatoon’s overall tax policy. To help kickstart this process, the Chamber has submitted a letter outlining several key priorities that should be enshrined in policy—ensuring a balanced, predictable, and growth-focused approach to taxation.
As Council debates the property tax ratio today, we encourage a long-term perspective that strengthens Saskatoon’s economic competitiveness while keeping taxes fair and affordable for businesses and residents alike.
