Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland tabled the 2024 federal budget yesterday. The budget contained few surprises, with the bulk of announcements having been rolled out over the past several weeks.

The Federal Budget will be presented next week on April 16. As part of the budget consultative process the Canadian Chamber submitted a comprehensive pre-budget proposal to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honorable Chrystia Freeland.

The Saskatoon Chamber will be representing our business community at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Hill Day event this month in Ottawa. This annual event  brings together business leaders and government decision-makers to address pressing issues affecting Canadian businesses and the economy.

The Saskatoon Chamber has advanced recommendations for the establishment of new shelter facilities over the last three years and we are so pleased to see one such priority receive funding in an announcement last week.

The 2024-2025 Provincial Budget tabled today focused on providing critical investments in healthcare and education but fell short of new measures to support Saskatchewan’s small business job creators.  

The City of Saskatoon is planning and designing facilities for walking and cycling along Millar Avenue between 43rd Street East and Marquis Drive. The project objective is to develop a design that encourages walking and cycling consistent with the City’s Active Transportation Plan.
