A Decade on DEED

The Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce says today’s Speech from the Throne provides stability for businesses by signalling a “stay the course” approach on economic and fiscal policy.
“Today’s Throne Speech will be reassuring to business owners and industry leaders in a period of economic uncertainty and global volatility,” says Jason Aebig, CEO. “It signals that Saskatchewan remains a stable and attractive place to invest and create jobs, and that its leaders recognize the critical role businesses play in our communities.”
The Saskatchewan and Saskatoon economies are demonstrating remarkable resilience and are projected to be among Canada's top economic performers, despite navigating a volatile global market marked by an escalating Canada-U.S. trade war and geopolitical tensions. Even so, specific sectors like manufacturing, speciality food and beverage products, and small businesses face clear headwinds from U.S.-imposed tariffs that are weakening business and consumer confidence.
“A steady approach to economic policy, competitive tax rates and stable regulatory environment is what our businesses need to plan for what’s ahead,” observes Aebig. “With the province’s commitments in place, businesses can do their part: create jobs, grow the tax base and help fund the police officers, doctors, nurses and teachers we need.”
Saskatoon’s business community will have an opportunity to hear directly from Premier Scott Moe and five ministers responsible for the economy at the Chamber’s “Premier’s Panel on Business and Economy” luncheon on November 6, 2026.
