A site has been selected for Saskatoon's new 60-bed enhanced emergency shelter. This is not an existing building. It is land at 170, 31st Street East that is owned by the Government of Saskatchewan and meets criteria set out by City Council, including:

• Both internal and external gathering spaces on site
• Proximity to other services should be considered
• At least 250 metres from elementary schools

Public consultation to come in September. Based on an initial assessment of the area, it appears to be a feasible location that has considered undue hardship to area businesses. We are also encouraged that the operator of the new facility, The Mustard Seed, has a strong track record of operating similar facilities and engaging with community stakeholders, including businesses.
