The Saskatoon Chamber is proud to bring forward our policy resolution Cold and Code Savvy: Leveraging Canada’s Advantages for Data Centre Industry Development, at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM next week. As global demand for secure and reliable digital infrastructure continues to surge, Canada stands at a critical juncture. Our country already generates more than $8 billion annually from data centres, with the potential to become a world leader in secure and scalable digital infrastructure.
This resolution calls for a cohesive national strategy to strengthen Canada’s competitive advantage, from our cold climate and clean energy to our growing tech workforce, while addressing key barriers such as power availability, land constraints, and regulatory complexity. By acting now, Canada can secure investment, protect digital sovereignty, and ensure we remain at the forefront of the digital economy.
On the same subject, the Chamber is partnering to host Harnessing Prairie Power: Data Centres in Saskatchewan on October 8th. This first-of-its-kind event in the province will bring together leaders and innovators to explore how Saskatchewan can diversify its economy, attract global investment, and create high-skilled jobs through data centre development.
Together, these efforts underscore the Chamber’s commitment to positioning Saskatchewan and Canada as a global hub for digital infrastructure.
