Saskatchewan’s push into AI is picking up speed, and the province’s recent support through Innovation Saskatchewan for the SASK AI Expo is the latest example of that momentum. The investment itself isn’t huge, but that’s not really the point. It’s about creating space for Saskatoon businesses, researchers and startups to come together and focus on how AI is actually being used across sectors like agriculture, mining, energy and manufacturing. It’s another signal that this is where things are going.
We’re also seeing that momentum show up in bigger ways, like Bell Canada’s $1.7 billion AI data centre project near Regina. For Saskatoon businesses, this matters. AI is already shaping how companies operate, from improving efficiency to opening new opportunities, and those who start paying attention now will be better positioned. This is something the Chamber has been pushing for, and even smaller investments like the expo help build the momentum businesses need to get involved.
