City Launches Public Consultation on Property Tax Policy
September 2, 2026
Input needed from our business community
The City of Saskatoon is acting on calls from the Chamber to develop a comprehensive tax policy to inform City Council decisions on setting property tax and other levies. Currently, these decisions are taken on an ad-hoc basis. The Chamber has argued that tax principles of (1) fairness (2) competitiveness (3) predictability, and (4) affordability should be enshrined in a policy that spans any one Council or budget year.
There are two upcoming focus groups where business reps are needed:
• September 21 (1pm to 3pm at City Hall – Up to 3 additional spots open
• September 24 (830am to 1030am at City Hall – Up to 2 additional spots ope
Email assistant@saskatoonchamber.com if you’re interested and available to participate in one of these focus groups. The direction of municipal property tax policy has significant implications for our business community worth hundreds of millions of dollars each year.
