“Shoring Up Saskatoon’s Tech Hub” is one of our advocacy priorities for 2024. To keep what we’ve built – and continue to grow – we need to ensure our founders and start-ups have the tools, capital, connections and climate to thrive right here.

As we know founders follow the capital and with businesses, particularly in the tech space, there is the ability to pick up intellectual property and establish a business elsewhere.

In order to access capital and keep our talent right here in the province, the Chamber is proposing the creation of a Fund of Funds. This new independent, professionally managed fund would  invest in several independently managed funds leveraging government capital with private sector capital, increasing the amounts available to be invested throughout the province.

This venture capital funding model would specifically assist Saskatchewan enterprises in the earlier stages of development to access new capital to further innovation and growth of businesses and to create opportunities for Saskatchewanians.
