Strategic Plan

History

Mindful of the Past, Focused on the Future

The Chamber was founded in 1903 with the aspiration of creating a prosperous business climate in what was becoming a rapidly growing city. Knowing that strong businesses were, and are, job creators and the backbone of a vibrant community, we were driven to help our community – and all of the businesses within it – succeed.

To this day, the Chamber continues to play an instrumental role in the economic advancement of Saskatoon. By developing and maintaining strong relationships with community, government and various industries, we have contributed and influenced policies that affect all business, enabling us to become a strong institution that spearheads real, positive change for our entrepreneur and business members. We have also helped steer decisions on a variety of landmark additions to the City, including rail lines, the University of Saskatchewan, Prairieland Park, and the development of Saskatchewan’s natural resource industry.

To this day, the Chamber continues to empower businesses. We believe that together, we can seek out opportunities, make our voices heard and affect change in Saskatoon, across the country and across the world.

Our Team

Silvia Martini

Interim CEO

In her role as Interim CEO, Silvia is responsible for overseeing operations, strategic planning, reporting to the Board, representing the Chamber through various organizations and in the media. Her extensive experience and knowledge of business, strategy, leadership, board governance and association management and long-standing membership with, and service to the Chamber as a Board Director are seen as assets in this transitionary period. 

Kendra Cruson

VP of Operations

An experienced executive leader specializing in strategy and marketing with a masters degree in Business Administration, Kendra is the epitome of living life with passion. While building her career, Kendra developed a true appreciation for travel, learning the value of other cultures and life experiences.

Margot Orr

Director of Policy and Government Relations

Margot’s responsibilities include policy analysis, Chamber committee support, working with government entities at all levels and public relations. Her passion for our community coupled with her experience in municipal government and graduate studies in public administration, make Margot an asset to the Chamber team.

Terry Lawrence

Office Administrator

She’s sharp as a whip, doesn’t miss a beat, and keeps the rest of us organized and on track. Terry is responsible for the coordination and implementation of our office procedures and her efforts are a primary reason our office runs like the well-oiled machine it is.

Roz Macala

Office Coordinator

As one of the longest serving staff members at the Saskatoon Chamber, it goes without saying that one of Roz’s best qualities is her loyalty. She has an innate devotion to helping others in every way, and always has a wonderfully big smile to share.

Henry Buitrago

Creative Coordinator

As the Chamber’s Creative Coordinator, Henry is responsible for the delivery of all creative aspects of the Chamber of Commerce. That includes graphic design, social media, photography, and coordinating the resources to deliver expert execution of the Chamber’s marketing strategy.

Ryssa Mae Alarcon

Executive Assistant

As one of the newest serving staff members at the Saskatoon Chamber, Ryssa comes to our team from the University of Saskatchewan where she has excelled in academic and leadership positions. As Executive Assistant, Ryssa is responsible for maintaining the office of the CEO.
